Not till the secret door opened had anyone passed through the halls of Erebor, not for many, many years. The whole place seemed silent and still. As if waiting for some unforeseen tragedy. But none had seen the dragon in so long. Perhaps the rumors were true. Perhaps he was dead and gone.

And there lay the treasure. And incalcuable ocean of gold, gems, and golden items that filled the whole room from one end to the other. One would be a fool not to take something. Who would miss it?
